Rust has begun to form.
The pieces looked pretty nasty at first.
But after a quick rinse(lead picture), the bare metal is holding up better than I thought it would have.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Bare metal appears to be galvanized. In which case it will hold up pretty well.

That is just some kind of residue from the salt water solution. Here it is before application.
